Interviewing Applicants who are Verified by Central Committee on Implementation of Permanent Residence System

          Interviews with applicants who have already inspected and verified by the Central Committee on Implementation of Permanent Residence System – PR System in Myanmar were carried out at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Immigration and Population on 10 March.

          Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, Chairman of Central Committee on Implementation of Permanent Residence System, met with the members of Central Committee and explained the progress of the measures taken to practice the Permanent Residence System – PR System in Myanmar. Afterwards, Chairman and members of the Central Committee individually interviewed and confirmed the applicants of Permanent Residence System – PR System in Myanmar who have already inspected and verified by the Central Committee.

          In implementing the PR system, there are four types of permits: professionals, businesspersons who want to invest in Myanmar, ex-Myanmar citizens who have obtained other citizenships and will contribute to Myanmar, and foreigners who are related by blood to Myanmar citizens. and the operations were conducted from 2015 and there were 746 applicants up today. A total of 670 applicants including their families were approved by the Union Government Office. Among the applicants, seven applicants were rejected according to the PR rules, one was denied for his application and one was dead.

          There are 37 applicants and their 10 family members who remain to be interviewed by the central committee due to the closure of airlines due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and 17 other applicants and one family member who were inspected and verified by the Central Committee. At the current verification process, 21 out of 54 applicants (37 remain to be interviewed and 17 others inspected by Central Committee), who agree to do interviews, were already inspected in the interviews. When they are verified, departmental procedures will proceed to issue them PR cards after being approved by higher levels of departments, it is reported.
