Workshop Held for Drafting Form of Questionnaire for Collecting of 2024 Population and Housing Census

      The workshop for drafting form of questionnaire for the collecting of 2024 Population and Housing Census by the data users was held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre (2) Nay Pyi Taw on 6 March.

    At the workshop, the chairman of central census commission Union Minister U Myint Kyaing said the following points –

• In collecting 2024 population and housing census, the reference time of census has set the midnight of 30 September 2024. The enumeration process will take place 15 days from the 1^st October which will be next day of the reference date and time to the 15 October.
• During the 2024 population and housing census, the enumerators will collect the data door by door using Mobile Tablets with the Computer Assisted Personal Interviews-CAPI. Such technologies and method were applied when Inter-censal survey was conducted in 2019 and it was found out that it considerably reduced manpower and time.
• In compiling the form of questionnaire, the questionnaire must be compact because the census will be carried out simultaneously across the Nation and moreover, it needs to carry out in line with the Principles and Recommendation for Population and Housing Census-Revision 3 published by the United Nations.
• Regarding the form of questionnaire to be used during the census, the Union Minister urged the attendees to consider the requirements of department/ organizations that will use data in the country and comparation with other foreign countries and also to ensure the number of questionnaires is not bloated.
• The Union Minister also urged the attendees to consider the duration of conducting census, time limitation, cultural customs, language difficulties, geographical features and other unexpected conditions.

     The Ministry of Immigration and Population is implementing for taking 2024 Population and Housing Census by setting four processes including preparation, collecting census data, compiling the statistics and making assessment and issuing reports and the preparation process is now under implementation.
