On the full moon day of Tabaung which falls on 5 March, famous pagodas, stupas and temples were thronged with good doers, those keeping Sabbath, and those giving feast in charity for all comers.
- People offered cooked rice, candles lit and water to Lord Buddha, chanted Pathana Pali at pagodas, offered golden lotus robe to Buddha as well as uncooked rice to monks and nuns at Shwedagon Pagoda and other famous pagodas in Yangon, Maha Muni Image and other famous pagodas in Mandalay, Maha Ent Htoo Kan Thar Pagoda in Pyin Oo Lwin, Ma Ha Shwe Thain Taw Pagoda in Kyause Township, Kyaiktiyo Pagoda in Kyaikto Township, Shinkoeshin pagoda and famous pagodas in Dawei district.
Likewise, pagodas in Regions and States were also thronged with pilgrims. Taungthaman Lake and U Bein bridge, Bagan-Nyaung U ancient cultural area, Palin Kanthayar elephant camp and Seaintan beach located in Kunchangon Township, Yangon Region, were crowded with people visiting for recreation, it is reported.
