In commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of founding the diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Russian Federation, the Myanmar-Russia Friendship and Cooperation Forum was held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II (MICC-II) in Nay Pyi Taw on 16 February. The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended and delivered opening speech at the forum.
First, the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar and party viewed round the documentary video and photos on friendly relations between Russia and Myanmar at the MICC-II. The Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister delivered the 75th anniversary commemorative speech at the forum as follows:
- The forum aims to strengthen the Myanmar-Russia friendship and enhance the multiple sector cooperation.
- The friendship between the two countries was ever strong throughout the successive periods. It has been further enhanced and military cooperation has been promoted since the SAC government assumed responsibilities.
- Especially, Myanmar will continue cooperation with each other as friendship countries and allied countries forever, and both sides will focus on the further establishment of Russia-Myanmar friendship associations, cooperation in trade and economy, further sending of civilian and military scholarship students for development of human resources, and further improvement of international and regional relations.
- Nowadays, some powerful countries interfere in the internal affairs of small countries for various reasons to cause deterioration and disintegrating unity with the use of various ways and means.
- Especially, it is regrettable that those countries are constantly posing pressure and coercion to geopolitically important Myanmar to shape its situation as they like, and to widen their influence using various ways and means, committing criticism, imposing sanctions and interfering in internal affairs.
- The Senior General expressed his thanks to the Russian leaders and citizens for their standing with Myanmar ever as a good friend to overcome challenges based on negative views and attempts of the utter devastation being committed by some big countries.
- Myanmar pledges to constantly focus on the enhancement of friendly relations and cooperation with Russia. Efforts will be made for the booming interests of both countries and friendly relations between the peoples of both countries.
- Myanmar from the time of member of the UN till today has been upholding the cooperation with the UN as a foundation of foreign policy.
- Myanmar expects the UN would help the global countries to become a prosperous global community with peace, harmony and justice.
- Myanmar is striving for political peace and stability while fully participating in regional peace and stability and development in line with the stance of the ASEAN.
- The government is building the better country and socioeconomic life focusing on interests of the nation and the people in line with the motto: “Keep Moving Forward to Achieve Our Goal”.
- As human resource is playing a key role, cooperation with Russian Federation focuses on development of human resources and academic matters.
- All are urged to play their respective roles in bilateral cooperation with Russia in the areas of bilateral relations, trading, global tourism, culture and sports sectors and other sectors.
- Since the Senior General has invited required investments in Myanmar during his visits to Russia, now we can see the beginning of such investments and he believes there will be more.
- Myanmar government is ready to cooperate with any country, organization or person who desires the interests of Myanmar.
- Myanmar has been exercising the five-point principles of peaceful co-existence steadfastly as well as the independent, active and non-aligned policy in enhancing relations with countries for ensuring global peace.
- The Senior General reiterated his special thanks to the international organizations, countries including Russia and individuals for their cooperation with us by understanding Myanmar’s prevailing conditions despite pressure, criticisms and blame throughout our tenure.
Then, the Russian ambassador to Myanmar expressed his thanks for having the opportunity to speak at the 75th anniversary. Currently, both countries are striving for further promotion of friendly ties and investment. Cooperation is being enhanced in education, human resource development, sports and health sectors. Both countries initiate cooperation in measures on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The Russian Federation always desires peace and stability and development of Myanmar and pledges to promote cooperation with Myanmar.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister and party enjoyed the song on Rossiya Vperod presented by vocalists from the Myawady Entertainment Troupe under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare. Then, the Senior General and the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar took documentary photos together with attendees.
Present together with the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister were SAC members, Union ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Ambassador of Russian Federation to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Nikolay LISTOPADOV and members, officials of Russian Embassy in Myanmar and Russia-Myanmar Friendship and Cooperation Association, resources persons, faculty members of universities, students and distinguished guests, it is reported.
