Riverine Naval Hospital Ship UMS Shwe Puzun and UMS Sagu Arrive back after Providing Healthcare Services to Locals from Villages along Ayeyarwady River

The Riverine Naval Hospital Ship UMS Shwe Puzun and UMS Sagu with the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Teams onboard provided healthcare services to local people from villages in delta area along the Ayeyarwady River in Ayeyawady Region from 18 January to 12 February. The Hospital Ships docked at No (4) Navy Wharf on 14 February and they were welcomed by the Commander of Ayeyawady Naval Headquarters and officers, other ranks and family members.

The Riverine Naval Hospital Ship UMS Shwe Puzun and UMS Sagu with the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Teams onboard provided healthcare services to 21,300 local people from villages in delta area along the Ayeyarwady River.

In doing so, 6,729 patients who need medical treatments, 1,565 patients who need surgical operations, 1,052 patients with obstetric/gynecologic diseases, 1,169 patients with pediatric diseases, 3,493 patients with orthopedic diseases, 1,934 patients with ENT related diseases, 3,801 patients with optical diseases and 1,557 patients with dental and oral diseases were given necessary medical treatments. Among them, 1,037 eye patients and 672 patients who need general operation were provided necessary surgical operations.

Moreover, diagnoses and treatments were also provided to 194 patients who need to take X-ray scans, 1,584 patients who need to take television X-ray scans, 1,795 cardiologic patients undergoing ECG procedures, and 2,285 patients who need to receive laboratory tests. Then, two pregnant women were provided to give birth at the maternity room onboard and 106 patients who need to take medical treatments were also sent to military hospitals and public hospitals of relevant townships.

The Riverine Naval Hospital Ship UMS Shwe Puzun and UMS Sagu with the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Teams onboard provided healthcare services to local people from Ayeyarwady Delta Region and the villages along Ayeyarwady River where is very hard to take medical treatments as of 2013. Therefore, this time turn 17th and a total of 164,807 people were provided healthcare services. Moreover, 26 pregnant women were provided to give birth at maternity room of the Riverine Naval Hospital Ship UMS Shwe Puzun, it is reported.
