The Ministry of Electric Power released a statement describing that NUG’s subordinate PDF terrorists intentionally blew up the two transmission towers of 132 KV Balu Chaung 2 – Tigyit power line which is distributing electric power generated from Balu Chaung hydropower plants to national power system located on between Moebye and Pekon townships of Shan state (South) on 8 February. As of now, 26 transmission towers of that power line were destroyed for ten times including this explosion. Therefore, the Ministry of Electric Power is taking measures to repair the damaged transmission.
Statement
1. The Ministry of Electric Power is making efforts to fulfil the electricity requirements of the people. In spite of the efforts, it is still not enough to meet the electricity requirements of the people and therefore, distributing electric power in the country is carried out in fair shares based on the capacity of power generation.
2. Among the power lines generating and distributing electric power to meet the electricity requirements of the people, the NUG’s subordinate PDF terrorists intentionally blew up electrical infrastructure. On 8 February, they blew up two transmission towers located between Moebye and Pekon townships of Shan state (South). The damaged towers are part of 132 KV Balu Chaung 2 – Tigyit power line which is distributing electric power generated from Balu Chaung hydropower plants to national power system. Due to the attack, the two transmission towers were destroyed. As of now, 26 transmission towers of that power line were destroyed for ten times including this incident. Therefore, the Ministry of Electric Power is taking measures to repair the damaged transmission towers as early as possible.
3. The NUG’s affiliate PDF terrorists had destroyed electric power plants, power grids and substations for 221 times and the Ministry of Electric Power continues to make repeated repair works in collaboration with security personnel in concerned areas, it is reported.
