Precautionary Activities Continue to Prevent COVID-19 Outbreaks

The Ministry of Health has carried out COVID-19 prevention and control activities in respective regions and states by designating targeted groups and accordingly, vaccination process is being accelerated-  

  • A total of 30,867,882 people aged 18 years and above and 6,806,437 people under the age of 18 have been vaccinated against COVID-19 up to 17 January 2023.
  • On 17 and 18 January, COVID-19 vaccines have been delivering to Myitkyina, Myeik, Lashio, Kale, Sittwe, Thandwe and Loikaw townships by Cold Chain Delivery Logistics vehicles, Tatmadaw aircraft and helicopters.

The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 14 new cases of COVID-19 were detected from testing a total of 4,157 samples and accounting for 0.34 percent on 18 January. Up to 18 January 2023, a total of 633,777 cases were detected from testing a total of 9,893,511 samples and death-toll reached 19,490.
