Training Course on Using Central-level Voter List Management System Inaugurated

The training course on using software for central-level voter lists management was inaugurated on 16 January at the Sinphyushin hall of No.3 Interrogation and Accommodation Camp. It was attended by members of Union Election Commission, the rector and professors, instructors and officials from UEC office.

The UEC Chairman U Thein Soe highlighted the following points at the ceremony:

  • The voter lists management system can be used by sub-commissions of Township, District, Region/State, Union Territory and UEC office, with an emphasis on cyber security.
  • Supervision of political parties to run for free and fair election in accordance with the law is to be made and voting list is to be compiled.
  • Efforts are being made to ensure that the correct voter list is available for the upcoming multi-party democracy general election. In this regard, commission members were assigned the task of scrutinising the ground population list on which the voter list will be compiled.
  • The system is designed to see detailed lists of relevant Hluttaw constituencies throughout the country; voter lists upto ward/village tract-level polling booths by type of voter list, type of persons with disabilities, ethnic people and sort of table. Further, concerned sub-commissions can check in a timely manner whether or not voter lists overlap.

The training course will be attended by 150 trainees including staff officers and assistant directors, and it will run through 20 January, it is reported.
