Civil Associations and Organizations Strongly Condemn on Brutal Attack Using Heavy Weapons by KNPP, PDF Terrorists at Opening Ceremony of Archway to Commemorate 71st Anniversary of Kayah State Day

On 15 January, while the opening ceremony of the archway to commemorate the 71st Anniversary of Kayah State Day was being held with participation of local ethnic people in front of State Hall in Loikaw city of Kayah state, KNPP and PDF terrorists attacked the ceremony in an inhumane way using heavy weapons from a location about 4,000 metres to the northeast of Loikaw. As the heavy weapon shells fell and exploded near the State Hall and in the residential areas. Some members of the security forces, six students, innocent civilians of a male and a female were injured and one male innocent civilian was killed.

It is reported that Young Men’s Buddhist Association (Central), Interfaith Friendship Organization (Central), Myanmar Press Council, Myanmar Writers’ Association, Myanmar Comedians’ Association, and Myanmar Music Association (Central) issued their statements saying that the brutal attack was totally unacceptable and they strongly condemned it.
