MoHA Union Minister Inspects Pathein, Insein, and Taungoo Prisons

The State Administration Council member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut accompanied along with responsible officials inspected the Pathein Prison, Insein Prison and Taungoo Prison on 11 and 12 January.

  • Arriving at the Pathein prison in Ayeyarwady region, the Union Minister made an inspection tour along with responsible persons around prison central prison outpost, prisoners/detainee dormitories, kitchen, rations warehouse, place where prisoner/detainee launched unrest on 6 January, their materials and destroyed security equipment.
  • Arriving at the Insein Central Prison in Insein township, the Union Minister and party inspect around the inspected the Luggage X-Ray Scanner operations at the parcel reception office and parcel scanning division of Insein Prison, functions of CCTV Control Room monitoring the security conditions in the prison and preparation of rice and meals for inmates at cooking facility and gave necessary instruction to responsible officials.
  • Arriving at the Toungoo Prison in Bago Region, the Union minister and party inspected the site where new cooking facility is under construction, dormitories of inmates, bathing places and hospital wards.

The Union Minister reportedly instructed responsible officials of prisons to take good heed of prison security, to stage rehearsals so as to bring any riot in prisons under control in a short time and to put goodwill front in preparing meals for inmates.
