Myanma Railways under the Ministry of Rail Transportation is running 16 express trains, 12 mail trains, eight freight trains, 30 trains for Yangon circular railway and suburban railway networks totaling 66 trains. Likewise, Myanma Railways is also running freight trains carrying rocks and engineer trains for the maintenance and upgrades of railways. In this regard,
- On 2 January, PDF terrorists carried out a remote mine attack on a freight train carrying rocks and running on Bago-Mawlamyine rail line. The train left Zin Kyaik station earlier and three rock carriages derailed due to the mine blast. Moreover, 115 railway sleepers were damaged, five feet of rail track were cut off and six rail tracks were destroyed in the attack. Moreover, the mine blast inflicted unnecessary delays of express trains causing difficulties of around 2,500 passengers.
- Similarly, on 10 January, a freight train on Bago-Mawlamyine raile line carrying rocks encountered an explosion of IED planted by PDF terrorists at a location between Zin Kyaik station and Yin Nyein station. The train left Bago station for Zin Kyaik station to fetch the rocks there. Due to the explosion, the locomotive, three rock carriages and one freight carriage derailed causing a blockade on the railway. The incident also caused unnecessary difficulties of over 1,500 passengers on board with other trains.
During the period staring from first February 2020 to so far, the PDF terrorists have deliberately destroyed railway tracks and bridges on Yangon-Bago-Mawlamyine rail line: blowing up bridges for five times; blowing up railway tracks for three times; explosions/findings of IED on railways for six times, 14 times in total. Moreover, the terrorists also burnt down a staff housing of railway station. In the Myanmar Railway Network as a whole in the same period, the PDF terrorists have already committed planting and exploding mines in the railway station areas for 105 times, exploding and destroying railway bridges for 34 times and setting fire to railway station for 9 times.
It is reported that the entire population is disgusted by the PDF terrorists who have cruelly committed the repeated bombing attacks on ministry-owned trains that are carrying rocks to ensure the better maintenance of railway tracks for the safety of people. Moreover, the attacks reportedly caused unnecessary delays of express trains, freight trains as well as damages to passengers and goods.
