As a gesture of hailing Diamond Jubilee Independence Day, Government Technological Colleges-GTCs were simultaneously opened in Dagon Myothit (South), Kyaukpyu and Mandalay on 28 December.
Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Kyaw of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the directors-general and officials attended the opening ceremony of the Government Technological College in Dagon Myothit (South). Similarlym, permanent secretary and officials presented at the opening ceremony of Government Technological College (Kyaukpyu) and the director-general of the Vocational Education and Training Department of the Ministry, the the opening ceremony the Government Technological College (Mandalay).
The Union minister and officials of the Ministry of Science and Technology inspected practical rooms, class- rooms, libraries and computer rooms, civil engineering, electrical power engineering and mechanical engineering workshops of the college.
The Government Technological College (Dagon Myothit (South)), Government Technological College (Kyaukpyu) and the Government Technological College (Mandalay) were opened as extension under the guidance of the Government to create learning opportunities for children of local people and outstanding students from various parts of the country, and to nuture the educated youths required to contribute to the State-building measures. Students who have passed the matriculation exams and outstanding students from Government Technological Schools will be reportedly allowed to attend the colleges.
