Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win Delivers a Speech at 2/2022 Meeting of Central Committee on Copyright

The 2/2022 Meeting of Central Committee on Copyright was held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Commerce on 20 December, and Chairman of the Central Committee on Copyright Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivered a speech at the meeting as follows:

• Myanmar enacted trademark copyright law, mechanical design copyright law, invention copyright law and literature and art copyright law in 2019.
• It can also be seen that the property rights sector plays a more important role in foreign trade, investment and trade promotion and science and technology cooperation.
• Therefore, Myanmar is necessary to accelerate the intellectual property registrations by enforcing the intellectual property rights laws which were enacted in 2019 as soon as possible.
• The creative power of the people of a nation is indirect proportion to its development and, therefore, it is a pressing need to implement a copyright system that would protect the works of inventors and creators and would enable them to enjoy the benefits of copyright under the law.
• The adoption of a copyright protection system will help the improvement of national economy, foreign investments, high technology transfers, manufacturing sector and other economic sectors. Besides, entrepreneurs, innovators and private businesspeople will enjoy coyright benefits.

Also present were Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo, deputy ministers, the permanent secretary, directors-general and officials.
