Government of Myanmar Donates Medicines and Medical Supplies (worth of over $1.48 million) to Government of Sri Lanka

The handover ceremony of medicines and medical supplies donated by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, was held at the meeting hall of Medical Research Department, Yangon on 21 November.

At the ceremony, Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win explained the reason of providing the medicines and medical supplies worth of (over US$1.48 million) such as household medicines, rabies vaccine, antibiotic, chronic disease medications and Covid-19 prevention and control protective equipment. Moreover, he said that these donations are the symbol of the friendship between the two countries and Myanmar is donating such medicines under the saying "Sharing is caring" to Sri Lanka.

Afterwards, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar expressed that such assistance shows the friendship between the two countries and a good friend of Myanmar to Sri Lanka in the difficult time of economic challenges. This year marks the 73rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Sri Lanka and the bilateral cooperation will be continued based on the friendly relations between two countries.

The ceremony was attended by the Union Minister for Health, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar, Yangon Chief Minister and government members, it is reported.
