COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.
· The vaccination processes continue in respective regions and states as per the priority programme, and a total of 170,072 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 14,559 people as first dose on 5 January.
· A total of 2,509 students aged 12 years and above from Basic Education Middle and High schools in respective regions and states have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 1,229 students as first dose on 5 January. A total of 1,506,987 students have been vaccinated against COVID-19 till 5 January 2022.
· On 5 January, the chairman of township administration body and responsible persons opened the oxygen plant in the public hospital of Thegon township of Bago region. The plant was constructed with the donation money of K110 million contributed by locals and township departmental bodies as well as people away from the township.
The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 133 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 11,185 samples and the infected rates are 1.19 percent on 5 January. Until 5 January 2022, a total of 531,432 cases were found from testing a total of 6,087,632 samples and death toll reached 19,282.
