The 43rd ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Drug Matters was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 31 October to 3 November. The meeting focused on the drug prevention measures, prevention and awareness activities, medical treatment and rehabilitation processes, alternative development and research activities, and future work plans in the ASEAN region.
The discussions between ASEAN member countries and partner countries continued and Police Brig. Gen. Win Naing, Joint Secretary of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control and Commander of the Drug Enforcement Division co-chaired the 7th ASEAN-China Dialogue Meeting with China. In addition, those present at the meeting discussed on the preparations of Myanmar to host the 44th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Drug Matters in 2023.
Myanmar delegation led by Police Brig. Gen. Win Naing, Joint Secretary of the Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control and Commander of the Drug Enforcement Division attended the meetings. The representatives of ASEAN member countries, the Australian Embassy to Malaysia, China, Japan, and Russia, UN Office on Drugs and Crime also attended the meeting in person or virtually.
