The Ministry of Electric Power is expanding power plants and distributing the electricity generated from the current power plants via national grids and various grids to meet people’s energy needs. In spite of that, terrorists committed bombing attacks against transmission towers many times. Therefore, the Ministry of Electric Power released the following public announcement describing that the ministry is carrying out maintenance works many times in cooperation with Tatmadaw.

The Ministry of Electric Power is expanding power plants and distributing the electricity generated from the current power plants via national grids and various grids to meet people’s energy needs. Meanwhile, two towers of 132 kV Balu Chaung 2 - Tigyit double power grid of the Balu Chaung Hydropower Plant were exploded by terrorists and insurgents so 70 MW to the national grid was reduced.
The ministry faced attacks by destructive elements many times while conducting maintenance works, and the staff were killed and injured.
Terrorists committed bombing attacks on power grids from which electricity is supplied to the people. They exploded power grids that export 240 MW power from the Baluchaung Hydropower Plant to the national grid: 15 towers of 230 kV Balu Chaung 2 - Shwe Myo power grid for six times, six towers of 230 kV Balu Chaung 2 - Taungoo national grid for four times, 21 towers of 132 kV Balu Chaung 2 - Tigyit double power gird for seven times. Thus, the ministry is carrying out maintenance works many times in cooperation with Tatmadaw.
The ministry is making efforts to fulfil the electricity needs of the people and the people should also cooperate to prevent such attacks on power grids.
