Aiming for food security during the period of taking COVID-19 precautionary measures, local military personnel are selling cooked-rice with curries at affordable price, vegetables, and canned meat, canned fish and foodstuffs manufactured by Tatmadaw-owned factories in various townships in the areas of respective regional commands. This move also aims for the welfare of local people, members of the township war veteran organizations, and departmental staff as well as contributing to the efforts to decrease the prices of goods.
On 1 and 2 November, military personnel from the respective regional commands and other responsible persons are selling the products of private and battalion/unit-owned agriculture and livestock farming businesses such as rice, cooking oil, salt, meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, onions and the products of Tatmadaw-owned factories, such as noodles, biscuits and cans at a cheaper price than the current price in eight townships of Kachin state, four townships of Shan state (East), Myeik and Bokpyin townships of Tanintharyi region, 44 townships of Yangon region, Pathein township of Ayeyarwady region, Sittwe and Ann township of Rakhine state, 12 townships of Sagaing region, Gangaw township of Magway region, three townships of Chin state, three townships of Mandalay region and Taungoo township of Bago region, it is reported.
