Around 12 PDF terrorists opened fire on the Kim Mon Chaung bus terminal of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda from a location near Moe Moe fig-jam shop after arriving there with 4-wheelers vehicle on 12 October leaving four innocent civilians dead while 17 others and a policeman injured. A case was opened at Kim Mon Chaung local police station with the case number (Pa) 26/22 under Section 54 of Counter Terrorism Law.
According to the accounts of 25 witnesses, medical-check documents of the deceased and injured victims, evidence of materials used by insurgents and PDF terrorists and other strong evidences, it is found out that insurgents and PDF terrorists took position in the west of the bus terminal and opened reckless fire on the stairways of pilgrims and the building where security force members stayed by using heavy and small weapons.
When security force members from the north sandbag bunker of the bus terminal returned fire on the insurgents and PDF terrorists, the counter-attack hit the Moe Moe fig-jam shop where terrorists were taking position. As the disformed bullets fired by security force members were found inside the shop, it was found that the shooting direction of security personnel were not related to the side where pilgrims were. Therefore, according to findings of inspection at the scene, it was observed that security force members did not made any wrong shooting that might harm civilians.
According to the witnesses and findings from the inspection on the previous incidents, It was found out that the team that attacked on the pilgrims was led by Aye Min Tun (police deserter and a trusted person of ex-Chief Minister of Mon state). Moreover, Ye Thway Ni (driver of Dr. Khin Saung, ex-Hluttaw Representative), NUG Kyar Phyu company (4) of Thaton district and a group led by Darr Nal Htoo, Commanding Officer of No (3) Battalion of KNU brigade (1) cooperated with him.
Aye Min Tun (a police deserter) –
- Communicated with Dr. Khin Saung (fugitive) and Daw Thiriyadana (fugitive) who are former Hluttaw representatives of Mon state, and Kyaw Myo Min (fugitive), Aung Kyaw Thu (fugitive) and U Khin Toe (fugitive) who are businesspersons.
- Seized an oil bowser from DENKO gas station in the area of Belin police station by cooperating with Ye Thway Ni and Darr Nal Htoo, Commanding Officer of No (3) Battalion of KNU brigade (1) on 15 September 2022. Therefore, there are the fugitives filed with the case number (pa) 127/2022 under section 392/365 of Penal Code
- He also formed Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF) by cooperating with Myo Lin Htut (aka) Hmon Gyi (arrested) and Saw Tun Win (arrested) and then made plans of explosions in Kyaikto township targeting the activities of security forces and VIP trips by taking information. Therefore, he was also found out to be the fugitive filed at Kyaikto police station filed with case number (pa) 212/2021 under Sub-section 50 (a) (i) and 52 (d) of Counter Terrorism Law.
Myanmar Police Force released a public notification urging people who do not want terrorism covertly tip-off authorities the information of the terrorists so as to identify and arrest the perpetrators as early as possible.
