Myanmar Directly Ships 2,650 Tonnes of Rice to Bangladesh from Pathein Industrial Port for the First Time

Bangladesh and Myanmar officials signed a G to G contract in order to export 200,000 tonnes of Myanmar’s white rice to Bangladesh. As 30,000-50,000 tonnes of rice are scheduled to be directly shipped by MV MCL-7 cargo ship to Bangladesh from the Pathein Port of Ayeyawady region, the loading of 2,650 tonnes of Emahta rice (5% broken) onto the ship heading for Bangladesh has commenced since 28 October.

The loading process of 2,650 tonnes of rice will be completed on 31 October and the MV MCL-7 will leave for Bangladesh through the Ayeyawady International Idustrial Port-AIIP. More ships will arrive and depart at the Port.

Myanmar’s rice exports to foreign markets can earn foreign income and its exports to the neighbouring countries can create business opportunities for the related businesses driven by rice exports. This achievement in Pathein city can also strengthen the relationship between the State, farmers, entrepreneurs and government departments for ensuring the sustainable market and export promotion.
