Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Receives the Peace Delegation led by Vice-Chairman of NMSP

The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the peace delegation led by Vice-Chairman of New Mon State Party (NMSP) Nai Aung Min at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw on 11 October to talk about peace issues.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services underscored the following points:

  • The designation of the year 2022 as the year of peace and invitation to the peace talks for seeking resolution over different opinions based on politics without any restrictions.
  • The plans to continue the restoration of peace based on the Constitution (2008) and the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
  • Exercising the genuine, discipline-flourished multiparty democratic system, and efforts being made for building the Union based on democracy and federalism as the political aspiration.
  • Open and frank discussions on demands of the Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) and appropriate measures for the region and the State in the peace talks, and needs for deeply holding discussions with a wide range of scope for the sake of the Union.

Then, Vice-Chairman of the NMSP and party said that the NMSP on its part is steadfastly participating in the track of peace with the aspiration to restore peace across the nation, and showed off their attitudes and stances on the situations that the different opinions based on politics should be solved under the political trend. Regarding the discussions, Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services highlighted the following points:

  • The Hluttaw is the politically highest in the democratic system, and more ethnics should participate in the Hluttaw, the political platform to demand the rights of their regions under the law.
  • They should not emphasize their single party but focus on the interests of the Union through the Union spirit. Both sides cordially exchanged views on peace issues and regional development.

Also present at the talk were the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services together with the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, and Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The Vice-Chairman of the NMSP was accompanied by Central Executive Committee member Nai Banyar Lei and Central Committee member Nai Am Saik Cham.

The delegation led by the Vice-Chairman of the NMSP will hold peace talks with the Peace Talks Team and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee formed with council members by the State Administration Council.
