People Pay Homage to Pagodas and Resorts Crowded with People

On 9 October, the full moon day of Thadingyut (Abhidhamma Day) occasion, pagodas, temples and stupas in regions and states were crowded with pilgrims, paying homage to Buddha images, taking meditation, keeping Sabath and performing meritorious deeds. Moreover, other famous places, parks and resorts were also crowded with people.

  • The pilgrims including members of the Sangha and nuns paid homage and donated fragrances to Upattasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, Maha Myat Muni Buddha Image in Mandalay as well as famous pagodas and temples in all regions and states.
  • Elder people are being paid homage, provided with health care services and nutritious food in respective states and regions. Moreover, charity foods (Satuditha) were also donated to the pilgrims according to the traditions of Myanmar people.
  • Firework displays were performed at Tabaung Ground of Nay Pyi Taw and People's Square and Park. National Landmark Garden, Nay Pyi Taw Safari Park, Zoological Garden, Hlay Khwin Taung Beach Resort, Nga Laik Elephant Camp and Mingalar Lake were also packed with people who were relaxing and taking photos.
  • Renowned vocalists as well as singers of the Voice Myanmar program performed entertainments of singing to the audiences at night market in Nay Pyi Taw Water Fountain Garden starting from 6 pm to 9 pm. The night market had over 50 shops selling foods.

Likewise, people offered 5,000 lamps lit in pagodas and stupas in respective regions and states. Amusement parks, gardens, beaches and public recreation areas were crowded with people, it is reported.
