The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, entourages and their wives, accompanied by Bago Region Chief Minister, Southern Command Commander and officials, inspected the preservation of Sri Ksetra, World Heritage Cultural Site, the largest among the Pyu Era city states, where located to the five miles southeast of Pyay in Bago Region, on 5 October.
When the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister and party arrived in Sri Ksetra ancient city, they heard reports on the heritage of the cultural site, history of Sri Ksetra city and Pyu people, excavation and preservation of ancient cities, subject-wise lectures at the Field School of Archaeology, and systematic display of the excavated articles at Sri Ksetra Museum for local and foreign visitors with the help of documents and records presented by the officials at the hall of the Field School of Archaeology.
With regard to the reports, the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister stressed as follows:
- As the local and foreign visitors visit to the ancient city, it will contribute to the development of the Pyay region. So, it is necessary to systematically preserve the ancient objects.
- The excavated ancient heritage including pagodas, Buddha images and other buildings and designs must be documented yearly with photos and books for the posterity to have the firm evidence.
- There were instances in which historical records of our citizens were lost due to unsystematic documenting methods.
- So, historical records must be kept in books and through computerized system.
- At the Razakumara stone inscriptions based on the original Bamar language was translated in Mon, Pyu and Pali. The relations between Mon, Pyu and Bamar during the Bagan period and Pyu culture must be exposed through research.
- The cultural area must be internationally standardized to attract international tourists to observe the history of the region.
- It is important for the world-standard cultural zone to reflect the history of Myanmar firmly.
- As ancient culture zones are important for the tourism industry, preparations must be made for transport facilities and local shops in systematic arrangements for a possibly growing number of visitors.
- The history of Myanmar must be impressive one through the international scholars and enthusiasts who visited the zone.
- The government pledged to give assistance to Field School of Archaeology for continuous teaching of historical subjects.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister and wife, and party interestingly observed insignia and equipment displayed at the Sri Ksetra museum, literature and faiths, ancient objects, literary evidence, Pyu era bricks, architectural works, and Pyu equipment booths and left necessary instructions.
Continuously, the Chairman of the SAC Prime Minister signed the distinguished guest record of the museum. Then, the Prime Minister inspected maintenance tasks of the palace site in the culture zone and instructed officials to re-dredge the moat of the palace site. Later, they proceeded to the historic Baw Baw Gyi Pagoda and paid homage to Buddha images before offering flowers and water.
