KNPP and PDF terrorists in Kayah State often commit ambush shootings and explosions against non-combatant targets of people in order to disrupt the peace and stability of local areas. In this regard, on 30 September, the UB- 149 flight for Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Loikaw-Yangon, XY-AML aircraft type ATR72-600, operated by Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) carrying 63 passengers and flew to the airport according to the landing procedures to land at Loikaw Airport. While the aircraft was at the attitude of 3500 feet and four miles away to the north of the runway, terrorists fired with a weapon (under verification) that hit the left part of the aircraft fuselage caused a passenger injured with a bullet wound on his right cheek.
The injured passenger has been admitted to the Loikaw General Hospital for medical treatment, and it is reported that the security forces are continuing to conduct security operations around the area where the incident occurred.
