Providing Bags of Rice to Members and Households of KNU/KNLA (PC) and (DKBA)

During 2022-2023 FY, Ministry of Border Affairs provided bags of rice to members and households of Karen National Liberation Army (Peace Council) KNU/KNLA (PC) and the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA). The ceremony of providing bags of rice was held at the meeting hall of the Kayin State Government Office on 19 September.

  • Kayin state Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo attended the ceremony and provided 300 bags of rice to members and households of KNU/KNLA (PC) and DKBA.
  • The state Chief Minister highlighted that, efforts are broadly exerted to promote production of agricultural and livestock products since the well-beings of people are important. The State has also provided necessary investment fund to Kayin state and it will be lent to farmers at a low interest rate. In addition, he emphasized that family members of KNU/KNLA (PC) and DKBA can contact and inform authorities at any time in case of difficulties in food security, education, health and other needs and any requirement will be fulfilled in time.
  • KNU/KNLA (PC) Vice-Chair Dr Naw Kapaw Htoo and Chief-of-Staff Saw Steel from DKBA affirmed that they will do their best for peace and regional development by upholding Three Main National Causes.

After the ceremony, officials from Karen National Liberation Army (Peace Council) KNU/KNLA (PC) and the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) made a study-tour around Hpa-an breeding zone, it is reported.
