Plans are Underway to Add Vocational Subjects Related to Livestock Breeding and Agriculture into Curricula of BEHS in 50 Districts

During the coordination meeting on linking the KG+12 education system with university curricula held at the Ministry of Education, Nay Pyi Taw on 20 September, the Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe said as follows –

  • Vocational subjects related to livestock breeding and agriculture will be added into curricula of 50 basic education high schools in 50 districts in the coming academic year.
  • The Ministry of Education has implemented the free education system until the completion of KG+9.
  • The students who had passed KG+9 can continue Grade 10, Grade 11, Grade 12 and advanced University education.
  • Otherwise, those who had passed KG+9 may attend agricultural high schools, livestock high schools and technological high schools instead of attending Grade 10, Grade 11, and Grade 12.
  • It is required to review whether the curricula of KG+12 are relevant to the University curricula for the student who had passed KG+12.
  • It is also required to discuss and review the Grade 12 curriculum or Grade 12 outlines whether they are relevant and related to the curricula of first year University.

For ensuring the quality improvement of curriculum and subjects, all Universities are responsible to form the Board of Studies with the involvements of qualified persons, retired professors, experts in related subjects, expert teachers regardless of their rank and also as the supervisors of Master degree and doctoral degree. The Union Minister also called for seeking the right path for remedy of low education.
