Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi Attends 2nd International Tiger Conservation Forum in Russian Federation

        While accompanying the high-level delegation led by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to the Russian Federation, the Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, along with the officials from 14 countries, attended the 2nd International Tiger Conservation Forum held on the FEFU Campus in Vladivostok of the Russian Federation on 5 September.

       The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation launched the second International Tiger Conservation Forum and four Union Ministers signed on postage stamps to mark the ceremony and viewed the displayed booths. President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation delivered the opening remark at the preliminary forum.

        Among 14 countries where tiger is found, Russian Minister for Justice, Russian Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, Myanmar Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Deputy ministers and directors-general from other participant countries discussed on their activities by country in that event. The Union Minister underscored the following matters:

  • The condition of tiger conservation in Myanmar, the expansion of environmental conservation areas, including the habitat of tigers.
  • Recorded number of tigers in Myanmar as of 2021-2022, fund spending under the habitat restoration programme for wildlife animals.
  • The plan of conservation of tiger in Myanmar for 2020-2025 in cooperation with local and foreign organizations.
  • Expected results from undertakings in line with the global tiger recovery programme and future plans. Afterwards, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Mr Alexander Kozlov gave concluding remarks to the forum.
