COVID-19 Prevention and Control Activities Continue

       The Ministry of Health has carried out COVID-19 prevention and control activities in respective regions and states where targeted groups are designated and accordingly, vaccination drive is being accelerated-  Until 30 August, 36.72 million people in total have been vaccinated against COVID-19. About 33.19 million people have received two-time full doses of the vaccine, 3.53 million people have received the first doses and 6.26 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 booster doses. A total of 76.17 million doses have been inoculated to people in Myanmar.

  • As it is necessary to continuously control infection of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), it is hereby announced that public requests, orders, notifications and directives (except for easing the restrictions) released by the Union-level organizations and Union ministries up to 31 August 2022 have been extended until 30 September 2022 for prevention, control and treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
  • Omicron, the sub-variant of COVID-19, has been detected in Myanmar after testing the returnees from foreign countries and local patients.Therefore, the Ministry of Health urges the people to follow the COVID-19 health rules, wear face masks systematically and receive COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots without fail.

     The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 87 new cases of COVID-19 were detected from testing a total of 8,902 samples accounting for 0.98 percent on 30 August. Up to 30 August 2022, a total of 615,117 cases were detected from testing a total of 8,736,103 samples and death-toll reached 19,437.
