Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Receives the Peace Delegation led by Chair of Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) General Yawd Serk

        The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the peace delegation led by the Chair of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) General Yawd Serk at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw on 29 August to talk about peace issues.

       At the peace talk, the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services highlighted the following points:

  • Efforts being made to exercise the genuine disciplined multiparty democratic system and build the Union based on democracy and federalism as the political vision.
  • The future plans that will be continued to restore the peace based on the Constitution (2008) and the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

       The Chair of the RCSS and party discussed their attitudes on building the Union based on democracy and federalism, peace process and regional development and exercising federalism, solving political problems through political means, promoting social lives of people, eliminating armed conflicts and terrorism and further plans to be carried out. Afterwards, the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services discussed the following points:

  • The importance of geographic conditions of the country and the adoption of foreign policy in conformity with our country.
  • The needs to exercise federalism that harmonized with our country’s geographic situation, national characteristics and culture while most countries are exercising democracy and federalism.
  • The need to have human resources with knowledge and skill in exercising the genuine and disciplined democratic system, and the efforts being made to enhance the education sector for gaining educated persons so as to encourage the development of the country in a great momentum.  
  • Efforts being implemented for the development of ethnic people’s areas. The both sides frankly exchanged views on peace and regional development issues.

      The peace talk was attended by the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, accompanied by the Vice-Chairman of the SAC Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Council members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The Chair of the RCSS was accompanied by Secretary (1) Sao Sai Ngin and Central Executive Committee Member Sao Saung Han.
