Security personnel are attempting to identify and apprehend terrorists in order to prevent their bomb attacks and murder crimes on innocent civilians in Yangon region. According to information reports by the people who do not want acts of terrorism, Tun Tun Han (aka) Wathone from the so-called Special Operation Force- SOF terrorist group, who fired 60 mm mortar at Insein Prison on 22 August, was arrested alongside a 60 mm mortar at the ‘STAR FAMILY’ guest house located in Bokalo branch street of the bypass in Hlaing ward of Mawlamyine city on 23 August.
According to confession of the arrested offender Tun Tun Han (aka) Wathone:
- On 24 August, two offenders were arrested in Kyaikmayaw township and another two offenders were arrested in North Okkalapa township.
- On 25 August, one offender was arrested in Insein township.
- On 26 August, two other offenders were arrested in Insein township.
- A total of eight offenders; seven males and one female were arrested alongside a 60 mm mortar.
According to confession of the arrested offenders:
- Tun Tun Han (aka) Wathone and Aung Zaw Myint (aka) Sit Naing conducted explosive training at the KNLA’s Brigade-6, and Pyae Phyo Paing and Myo Zaw Lin conducted explosive training at the KNLA’s Brigade-7.
- The so-called Special Operation Force- SOF terrorist group were formed on May 2022, consisting of 49 members led by the fugitive Win Ko (aka) San Shar, a youth incharge of NLD in Thanlyin township.
- In order to carry out terrorist attacks in Yangon region, Thurein (still at large)-led 10 members from Mingaladon township, Thway Aye (still at large)-led 10 members from Kungyangone township, Kyaw Gyi (aka) RC (still at large)-led 10 members from Dala township and Nova (still at large)-led 10 members from Insein township comprised the terrorist members.
- According to the fugitive Win Ko (aka) San Shar’s instruction, Tun Tun Han (aka) Wathone, Aung Zaw Myint (aka) Sit Naing, Pyae Phyo Paing and Myo Zaw Lin fired three rounds of 60 mm mortar at Insein prison on 22 August, positioning at the football ground in Myothit ward of Insein township.
- As they did so, the fugitive Win Ko (aka) San Shar transferred 200,000 to each terrorist via K Pay service.
It is found out that the so-called SOF terrorist group carried out the following two bomb attacks in Yangon region:
- It fired small arms at the security post in Zaw Gyi street on Inya Road in Kamaryut township on 10 April 2022.
- It carried out an IED attack with two homemade mines on the control box near the train station of Hlaing township on 19 July 2022.
It is reported that punitive action will be taken against the arrested offenders.
