Local Residents from Villages in Lay Kay Kaw Area of Kayin State Return to their Respective Areas and Necessary Healthcare Measures Provided

Peace and stability has been restored around Lay Kay Kaw Myothit area since 28 December after the security force members have controlled that area. As security forces made re-invitation to bring back innocent civilians fleeing to other parts of the country using loudspeakers in Kayin and Myanmar languages, and negotiated necessary measures between Thai and Myanmar border committees, a total of 1,484 displaced persons; 636 males and 848 females returned to their respective areas on 1 January 2022. From 29 December 2021 to 1 January 2022, a total of 5,872 displaced persons (2,712 males and 3,160 females) who lived in Ingyin Myaing, Min Let Pan, Mae Htaw Tha Lay and Myitta Lin Myaing villages, returned to their respective areas.

The relevant officials systematically received the returnees and the medical officials from relevant public hospitals and members of Tatmadaw medical corps systematically carried out the efforts of testing COVID-19 disease and providing quarantine entry documents to returnees, explaining the instructions released by Ministry of Health. It is reported that the coordination was made between officials from the Military Command and from the relevant departmental officials to fulfil the healthcare requirements and other ones for returnees.
