A delegation led by the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung attended the 16th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting-16th ANCM which was held in Indonesia.
At the meeting, Admiral Yudo Margono, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy delivered an opening speech. The chiefs of ASEAN navies exchanged country-wise views on “The Roles of ASEAN Navies in Addressing Maritime Challenges”. Invitations were made regarding joint naval exercises, the International Maritime Defence Equipment Exhibition and meeting programmes among navies to be held in 2023.
At the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung exchanged views on the following points:
- The construction of a safe and stable maritime arena by collectively solving regional maritime challenges.
- Capacity enhancement of the Myanmar (Navy) through training.
- The importance of teamwork to be exercised by ASEAN navies.
- Further promotion of cooperation among navies and harmonious cooperation in maritime security measures.
The Commander-in-Chief (Navy) held talks with the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, the Chief of Staff of the Vietnamese People’s Navy, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, the Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy, and the Deputy Chief of General Staff (Army) of Laos separately. The delegation arrived back in Yangon by air on 25 August, it is reported.
