Heavy rains that fell in Yatsauk and Pindaya townships of Shan state (South) and Tachileik township of Shan state (East) in the evening of 7 August caused floods in Zawgyi creek of Yatsauk township as well as the downtown area of Tachileik.
At the flooded areas, relevant officials, local military personnel, together with members of Myanmar Red Cross Society and firefighters carried out relief and rescue tasks such as moving flood victims to a stadium; removing debris of landslides using machineries; and getting ready of lifeboats to carry out emergency rescues.
Moreover, Commander of the Eastern Command, Major General Ni Lin Aung and responsible persons provided foodstuffs, commodities and cash assistance to each of 343 households and they encouraged the flood victims who were given medical treatment.
