Collective Activities Carried out to Clean up the Trashes and Make Better Water Drainage in Flood-Affected Areas of Pyin Oo Lwin

On 31 July, heavy rains caused severe floods and costly damage in some wards and villages in Pyin Oo Lwin township of Mandalay region.

On 2 August, local military personnel, members of Myanmar Police Force, firefighters, departmental staff, volunteers and locals went to the flood-affected areas and carried out collective activities such as repairing the banks of the Gelaung creek in Ward (1) where there was water erosion and cleaning up the trashes and debris in Basic Education Sub-High School and No (1) Basic Education Middle School in ward (3). Moreover, they cleaned up the debris in Aye Mya Chan Thar Nunnery (buddhist) School, Gawrakha temple, Dhamma Karama School in Sin Lam village in ward (9) and they also worked together to make the flow of water better along the Gelaung creek from Gandhama Myaing roundabout to AGD Bank on Mandalay-Lashio Road, it is reported.
