PDF Terrorists Use Various Means to Disrupt the Development of Education Sector in Some Townships

With the goal of causing casualties of civilians living peacefully and make the public fearful, extremist terrorists receiving cash assistance are using various means to commit terrorist acts, such as making IED/bomb attacks in public areas, blowing up and torching educational infrastructures that play major role in education sector as well as making intimidations and wanton murders of education staff.   

  • On 31 July, PDF terrorists, self-named Yesagyo Revolution Group-YRG PDF threatened the students attending at the Government Technical College – GTC in Pakokku township of Magway region by writing a notification statement on its Facebook page, “Stop attending GTC. If not, you’ll all suffer further disastrous consequences! This our first and final warning.”
  • Two male terrorists (under investigation) arrived on a motorcycle at the home of headmistress Daw Toe Toe Lwin of 44 working at the Basic Education Sub-Middle School of Kyan Taw village in Kyaikmayaw township, Mon state. They fired five shots at her house, but there were no casualty or damage reported.
  • On 1 August, an IED exploded on the street in front of the Vocational Training Centre for Women, next to the Basic Education Sub-High School in the Taungphilar ward of Kale township, Sagaing region. However, there were no casualties or damage reported.

Security personnel are conducting necessary investigations in order to locate and apprehend those terrorists involved in the afore-mentioned crimes and to ensure that the latter face harsh legal consequences, it is reported.
