Two Terrorists Killed in Explosion while Attempting to Make IEDs in Thingangyun Township

It is reported that two terrorists were killed in an explosion while attempting to make IEDs in their house in Thingangyun township of Yangon region.

 On 31 July, acting on an information about an explosion that had occurred at the house of U Thein Oo, 59, a resident of Thingangyun township, security forces arrived at the scene and found out that the explosion occurred while the nephews of the house owner, Nay Lin, 24 and Pyae Phyo Oo (aka) Akyi Gaung, 28 were attempting to set up an IED. Due to the explosion, Nay Lwin was dead losing his left hand and right fingers and also with serious injuries on his face, chest and legs. Another victim, Pyae Phyo Oo was also found dead with severe injuries of splinters on his left hand, right calf and on both thighs. Moreover, another unexploded grenade was also seized in the room.

Since the terrorists have not mastered in using and making explosive devices as they learnt required skills in a short time and from online courses, such incidents frequently occurred claiming the lives of 48 people and injuring 37 others as of 2 August 2022.

Security forces destroyed the confiscated grenade in systematic manner, sent the dead bodies of the deceased to Thingangyun public hospital and continued other necessary actions as per rules and regulations.
