Military Personnel and Departmental Staff Carried out Relief and Rescue Tasks in Some Townships Affected by Floods due to Heavy Rains

Heavy rains caused severe floods and water entered the residential areas of the townships. Responsible persons went there and carried out rescue and repairing tasks as follows:

  • On 31 July and 1 August, the responsible persons arrived 10 wards, Kwe-Nwar-Thaught village tract and Thayetpin village in Pyin Oo Lwin township of Mandalay region and carried out relief and rescue tasks.
  • On 1 August, officials went to Tashein village in Uttarathiri township and Lapyinma village in Tatkone township in Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory and carried out relief and rescue tasks.

Local military personnel, members of Myanmar Police Force, firefighters, departmental staff and volunteers went to the flood-affected areas and carried out relief and rescue tasks such as moving flood victims to safe places, cleaning up the houses that have submerged, clearing damaged walls and buildings, clearing fallen trees and branches blocking on the roads, repairing damaged roads and bridges. Moreover, they also provided foodstuffs and medical treatments to the flood victims.
