Aiming to attract more Thai tourists to Myanmar, broadcast the Myanmar tourism sector programmes in Thai television channels, and promote Thai tourism marketing in Myanmar tourism industry, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung received the representatives from Thailand’s Best International Travels & Agency and MONO 29, Channel5, THAIRATH and Workpoint television channels at Mingala Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on 31 July. During the meeting, the Union Minister stressed the following points:
- Myanmar has famous tourist areas such as beautiful beaches, islands and snow-covered mountains in addition to destinations full of natural beauty.
- There are 135 ethnic groups in Myanmar and their cultures and customs which are resources can attract to tourists.
- He believed that the representatives of Thai television channels can assist the enhancement of Myanmar tourism sector by widely broadcasting Myanmar’s famous places and experiences they encountered in their visits through Thailand television channels.
- Their visits to Myanmar is a chance to broadcast the attractions of natural beauty and cultures of Myanmar in television channels to know Thai tourists, and the Union Minister hoped that Myanmar will be a famous tourist attraction areas for Thai tourists.
The representatives from Thailand television channels cordially raised questions about the arrangements of the enhancement of Myanmar tourism sector, plans for more Thai tourists to visit Myanmar, and further plans to be carried out. After that, they visited the Gem Museum. Moreover, they will visit Uppatasanti Pagoda, Minwin Mountain, Defense Services Museum, Lat Lote Hill and National Museum on 1 August, and tourist attraction sites in Yangon on 2 August, and make video records along their visits. It is reported that the video records of their visits will be broadcast in Thailand television channels.
