During the tenure of the State Administration Council Government, efforts are being made to increase job opportunities in both domestic and foreign countries. On 27 July, the Yangon Region Investment Committee approved ten investments to create 7,013 job opportunities in domestic and the Ministry of Labour has dispatched 2,215 workers under Employment Permit System.
- The Yangon Region Investment Committee approved the following industries: value-added bran manufacturing, CMP garment, bag, and footwear manufacturing, instant vermicelli manufacturing, value-added fish and shrimp manufacturing under the Normal system, and export of those products.
- The investment amounts are K 3,309.5 million and USD 13.815 million. Two local investments and eight foreign investments will generate 7,013 job opportunities.
- Myanmar workers dispatched to foreign countries under EPS system include new workers for manufacturing, construction, agricultural and livestock industries as well as re-entry workers. From 28 April to 26 July, a total of 2,215 workers were dispatched to foreign countries.
Myanmar workers have been dispatched to foreign countries since 2009, following the signing of an MOU between the two countries. Since the minimum wage for 2022 has been set at 9,000 won per hour, and the Republic of Korea has strict labour laws, the number of workers has increased, it is reported.
