Goods-Flow from Port of Mandalay to Yangon, Katha, Tigyaing Rise to 20 Percent

As the water level increases in Ayeyarwady river, the flow goods from the port of Mandalay to Yangon city, Monywa city, Katha and Tigyaing townships via inland water transport has risen up to 20 percent as follows –

  • The goods including food items of rice, onions, garlics, oil, salt, peppers, fish paste and dried fishes as well as clothes, cosmetics and other commodities are daily transported from the port of Mandalay to other major cities of Yangon, Monywa, Shwebo, Thabeikkyin, Shweku, Kathar, Tigyaing, Bhamo, Myitkyina.
  • It is reported that the flow of goods such as rice, onions, garlics, oil, salt, peppers, fish paste and dried fishes from the Port of Mandalay to other major cities of Yangon, Monywa, Kathar, Tigyaing, Bhamo, Myitkyina was only 60% in the first week of July but it has now risen to 80% making a sharp increase of 20%.

There are over 400 cargo ships transporting goods from Mandalay port to other major cities and other around 300 motor-boats transporting passengers and goods. It is reported that passenger services and goods flow return to normal as the peace and stability has become better across the country.
