Union Ministers Receive Indian Ambassador to Myanmar

Union Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung of the Ministry of Border Affairs and Union Minister U Thaung Han of Ministry of Electric Power and of Energy received Mr Vinay Kumar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the respective ministries on 26 July. The Union Minister U Khin Yi of Ministry of Immigration and Population also received the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar at the ministry on 25 July.

  • During the call between the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Indian Ambassador, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the promotion of bilateral relations, enhancement of mutually beneficial cooperation as well as close collaboration in the international fora.
  • During the call between the Union Minister for Border Affairs and the Indian Ambassador, both parties openly discussed peace and development of border regions between the two countries, the development of human resources in border regions, and the success of development activities implemented in the Chin State and Naga Self-Administered Zone with funding assistance from the Republic of India, in accordance with the Myanmar-India Border Area Development Plan, which was a coordination plan between the two countries, as well as further cooperation in various sectors. 
  • During the call between the Union Minister for Electric Power and for Energy and the Indian Ambassador, they talked about issues on the cross-border power lines, as well as bilateral investment in the electricity and energy sectors.
  • During the call between the Union Minister for Immigration and Population and the Indian Ambassador, both sides exchanged views on the Ministry's efforts for an e-ID system, the efforts for implementing e-Government system in Myanmar, the holding of e-ID seminars and workshops with the assistance of Indian Embassy in Myanmar and the appointment of technical advisors, the efforts of Myanmar technicians in e-ID implementation system, and matters to gain support for hiring technical experts from India in short-term for the e-ID and GIS systems.  

Together with Union Ministers, departmental heads and officials from relevant ministries as well as the Embassy of India in Myanmar attended the occasions.
