Families of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) Hold Second Monsoon Tree-planting Ceremony for 2022

The second monsoon tree-planting ceremony of the families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) for 2022 took place near Yezin Dam of Zeyathiri Township on 25 July, attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who planted a Yadana teak sapling.

The ceremony was attended by Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Vice-Chairman of the SAC Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Union ministers and their wives, senior military officers  and their wives, senior officer trainees of National Defence College, officers, other ranks and families of the relevant offices and departments under the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).

During the monsoon tree-planting ceremony, the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing highlighted the following points:

  • Forest and trees are an ecological chain for the survival of living beings including humans. They absorbed all the emissions including toxic gas and carbon dioxide and then produce oxygen for humans and animals.
  • Tatmadaw must systematically manage the nurseries for the success of seed germination, grow and nurse the saplings without doing the tree-planting job at a superficial level.
  • As the public welfare task is one of the three main tasks of the Tatmadaw members to conserve the public natural environment, they all need to actively participate in the tree-planting ceremonies on a yearly basis.
  • As planting trees aims to make efforts for the majority with goodwill, not for selfish, it is a good deed in the religious perspective.
  • Tatmadaw conducted 32 tree-planting ceremonies during the period from 2011 to 2021 and planted a total of 168,087 saplings. Tatmadaw planted 4,304 saplings in the first ceremony of 2022.
  • Success rate reached over 80 percent every year, except from five years when the rate fell below 60 percent. So, the success must be maintained.

Afterwards, the Chairman of the SAC Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and wife led the ceremony by planting Yadana teak saplings. Then, the Vice-Chairman of the SAC Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) and wife, and attendees planted saplings at the respective set places. The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and wife, and party viewed the growing of saplings by officers, other ranks and their families.

At the second tree-planting ceremony of families of the Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air), a total of 2,152 Yadana teak saplings and 1,076 ironwood saplings and 1,076 shade Manjansha saplings, totalling 4,304 were planted. All military commands also held the monsoon tree-planting ceremonies at their respective areas, and they planted precious, raw material, perennial and shade saplings. Now, a total of 195,038 saplings including 4,304 saplings planted in the compound of the office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) have already been planted by the entire Tatmadaw.
