Efforts are being made to establish a Government to Government system for direct export of fishery products and other exports from Myanmar to Bangladesh, rather than trade through border crossings-
- The Consul of Bangladesh in Sittway town and Rakhine state government are scheduled to meet again after July 20 to discuss the direct export of fishery products and other exports from Myanmar, and Bangladesh discussed Government to Government pact between the two countries in early June.
- Exports and imports are usually exchanged at the border gates of Myanmar. Since there are only exports from Myanmar and few imports in making trade with Bangladesh, it stands as a border trade that earns a strong income through the export sector.
If the Government to Government pact between the two countries is successful, Bangladesh is getting ready to buy cattle, timber and other products in addition to fishery products and dried goods. It is reported that the maritime trade will provide good support for the two economies.
