Measures Taken to Increase Exports in 2022-2023 FY

During the tenure of the State Administration Council, efforts are made to increase volume of exports through border trade posts and regular trade routes-

  • In the three-month period from 1 April to 30 June of 2022-2023 FY, USD 12.415 million was generated from exporting 3,448.524 metric tons of shrimp.
  • In the same period of 2021-2022 FY, USD 9.908 million was generated from exporting 2,109.734 metric tons of shrimp. Therefore, USD 2.507 million was generated more from exporting 1,338.79 metric tons of shrimp in this FY, in comparison with the previous FY.
  • Starting from 1 April to 17 June of 2022-2023 FY, USD 961.473 millionwas generated from exporting agricultural products to abroad.
  • Exports of agricultural products reached USD 936.366 million in the same period 2021-2022 FY and therefore, export value surplus is USD 25.107 million for this fiscal year.
  • 8,000 acres of Sein Ta Lone mango were cultivated in Yat Sout township of Taunggyi district in southern Shan state. Good-quality mangoes were exported to foreign markets and fetched better prices.
  • USD 0.735 million was generated from 489.85 tonnes of honey to foreign markets within three months of 2022-2023 FY.
  • USD 369.813 million worth 489,985.225 tonnes of varieties of pulses and beans were exported to foreign markets from 1 April to 1 July in 2022-2023 FY.
  • USD 100.979 million in total: USD 1.434 million through State-owned sectors and USD 99.545 million through privately-owned ones were generated from mineral products from 1 April to 1 July in 2022-2023 FY.
  • There were more than 800 registered private beekeepers and they raised over 200,000 beehives in 2022-2023 FY. In Myanmar, around 7,000 tonnes of honey were produced per year and about 2,600 tonnes of honey were exported to foreign markets yearly.

Since there are certain changes in product quality standards and new forms of imports and exports are also introduced in the trading system, it is reported that relevant departments are working together to find the best ways for increasing foreign exports.
