Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Holds Talks with Peace Delegation led by General Secretary of LDU

Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held peace talks with the delegation led by General Secretary U Kyar Solomon of the Larhu Democratic Union-LDU at the parlour of Bayintnaung Yeiktha in Nay Pyi Taw on 7 June.

During the meeting, the Senior General discussed matters related to adoption of the multi-party democracy system, building the union based on democracy and federal system. He discussed the importance of enhancing human resources complete with knowledge and technologies in implementing democratic system. Therefore, enhancing of the education sector for the people across the nation including ethnic regions has been implementing.

Then, the general secretary of LDU and delegation members highlighted the following points:

  • They expressed special thanks to the SAC Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services for extending the invitation to the peace talks with the aim of restoring the peace across the nation, they discussed the matters related to building the Union based on democracy and federalism and reported on regional development matters.
  •  Both sides openly exchanged views on the matters related to peace issues, education, health and regional development matters.

Also present with the Senior General were Vice Chairman of the SAC Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe win, members of the SAC General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae while the general secretary was accompanied by Joint Secretary (2) Kyar Yar Kote and CEC Member Kyar Phu.

It is reported that the peace delegation led by General Secretary Kyar Solomon of the Lahu Democratic Union-LDU arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on 6 July and the delegation was welcomed by members of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee and officials as well as the ethnic people of the Cultural Department and pro-peace local residents holding Myanmar miniature flags and signboards bearing “Achieving perpetual peace is the genuine desire of the people”, “Achieving peace is the genuine desire of all citizens”, “Let’s hold talks for peace in the Union”, “Only when ethnic nationals are in unity, it will ensure stability, peace and tranquillity”.
