COVID-19 Prevention, Control, and Treatment Activities Continue in Respective Regions and States

COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities such as opening quarantine centres and vaccinating people against COVID-19 continue in respective regions and states.

· The vaccination processes continue in respective regions and states as per the priority programme and a total of 181,993 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 76,071 people as first dose on 29 December.

· A total of 4,515 students aged 12 years and above from Basic Education Middle and High schools in respective regions and states have been vaccinated against COVID-19 as second dose and 6,301 students as first dose on 29 December. A total of 1,486,490 students have been vaccinated against COVID-19 up to 29 December.

· Rakhine state Chief Minister opened an oxygen plant which was constructed under the arrangements of regional government and generous donors in Myebon township of Rakhine state on 29 December. The plant can produce 40 to 80 oxygen cylinders (40 liters) per day.

· The officials of Rakhine state rewarded the certificates of honour to the generous donors who contributed to construct an oxygen plant on 29 December. That plant can produce 76 oxygen cylinders (40 liters) per day in Rathedaung township of Rakhine state.

Measures are being taken to import COVID-19 control, containment and treatment medicines and related equipment-

· On 29 December, a total of 20 tonnes of liquid oxygen carried by one bowser and 9 tons of masks were imported by two companies using two vehicles via Myawady and Chinshwehaw border trade posts.

 The Ministry of Health is conducting COVID-19 tests regularly, 276 new cases of COVID-19 were found from testing a total of 13,051 samples and the infected rates are 2.11 percent on 29 December. Up to 29 December 2021, a total of 530,276 cases were found from testing a total of 6,018,475 samples and death toll reached 19,262.
