Union Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin and Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of People’s Republic of China Hold Bilateral Meeting

On the sidelines of the 7th Langcang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers Meetings in Bagan of Myanmar, U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of People’s Republic of China on 3 July.

During the meeting, they cordially exchanged views on the following matters:

  • The continued implementation of Myanmar-China bilateral projects and the re-entry of Myanmar scholars to China.
  • The maintenance of peace and stability along the Myanmar-China border and smooth flow of border trade between Myanmar and China.
  • The closer collaboration between the two countries in both regional and multilateral contexts particularly the United Nations and the ASEAN.
  • The ongoing implementation of ASEAN five-point consensus on the basis of ASEAN’s non-interference policy and ASEAN Charter and fundamental principles.
  • The latest political developments in Myanmar and the achievements made on the implementation of five-point road-map of the State Administration Council, the Union Minister explained.

Following the bilateral meeting, two Foreign Ministers attended the ceremony of exchange of Agreement of Cooperation on projects of the 2022
Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation, the Agreement of the Upgrading of No.2 Industrial Training Center (Mandalay) Project, the Agreement on Animal Disease Laboratory, the handing-over of certificate of China-Aided Emergency Anti-Epidemic Assistance to Northern Myanmar (10.5 million Yuan) and Anti-Epidemic Supplies to Myanmar (32 million Yuan) and the handing-over of
certificate of China-Aided 1,000 Sets of Assembled Board House to Myanmar. During the ceremony, the representatives of relevant ministries from Myanmar and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar from People’s Republic of China exchanged the documents.

  • During the meeting, the both sides cordially exchanged views on the closer collaboration between the two countries in both regional and multilateral contexts particularly the United Nations and the ASEAN, and the ongoing implementation of ASEAN five-point consensus on the basis of ASEAN’s non-interference policy and ASEAN Charter and fundamental principles.
  • The relevant officials from two counties exchanged the Agreement of Cooperation on projects of the 2022 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation, the Agreement of the Upgrading of No.2 Industrial Training Center (Mandalay) Project, the Agreement on Animal Disease Laboratory, the handing-over of certificate of China-Aided Emergency Anti-Epidemic Assistance to Northern Myanmar (10.5 million Yuan) and Anti-Epidemic Supplies to Myanmar (32 million Yuan) and the handing-over of certificate of China-Aided 1,000 Sets of Assembled Board House to Myanmar.
