Second Batch of 6.7 Million Doses of COVISHIELD Vaccine Purchased from India Arrives

Myanmar has purchased a total of 13.4 million doses COVISHIELD vaccine from India and 6.7 million doses in the first batch arrived at the Yangon International Airport on 27 December and 6.7 million doses in the second batch arrived on 29 December.

· The Head of Department of Medical Services and Public Health in Yangon region and relevant officials received the 6.7 million doses of COVISHIELD vaccines in the second batch.

· Since there are about 19.15 million people over 18 who were immunized more than one time, the inoculation covers more than 51 per cent of the target people.

· The arriving vaccines will be injected to the people of target groups as well as extended target groups across the country in 2022 as per the priority programme.

The Ministry of Health has received a total of 57.9 million of COVID-19 vaccines, including a total of 45.1 million of COVID-19 vaccines purchased from abroad (15.4 million doses of COVISHIELD, 26.7 million doses of Sinopharm, three million doses of Sinovac) and a total of 12.8 million doses as having donated (2.5 million doses of COVISHIELD, 3.6 million doses of Sinopharm, six million doses of Sinovac, 0.7 million doses of Covaxin and 1,700 doses of Sputnik-V). The Ministry of Health urges people to visit the nearest vaccination centers for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine on the designated date or in the nearest period in full course and to take part actively in vaccination programmes.
