Union Ministers Receive Special Envoy of ASEAN Chair

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin and Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar received Mr Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia and special envoy of the ASEAN Chair at their respective Ministries on 30 June, 2022.

  • During the meeting between the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs and the special envoy, they exchanged views on the ongoing implementation of the Five-Point consensus, and way forward in delivering humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, the government’s efforts for cessation of violence, achieving lasting peace in the whole country designating 2022 as a peace year. The Union minister reiterated that Myanmar is committed to continuing its cooperation with ASEAN in implementing the five-point consensus based on the ASEAN Charter and the basic principles of the ASEAN. He underscored the importance of mutual understanding and adherence to the principles of the ASEAN Charter by all ASEAN Member States.
  • During the meeting between the Union minister for International Cooperation and the special envoy, they exchanged views on the progress of the provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar for Phase-1, preparations for the delivery of Phase-2 and for the implementation of the framework for COVID-19 vaccine administration in Myanmar.

The meeting was also attended by responsible persons and senior officials from the relevant Ministries.
