Myanmar Delegation Attends Intersessional Meeting of Anti-Personal Mine Ban Convention 2022

Myanmar delegation led by U Aung Kyaw Moe, the director-general of Resettlement Department of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement attended the Intersessional Meeting of the Anti-Personal Mine Ban Convention held in Geneva, Switzerland from 20 to 22 June.

At the meeting, provisions to mine-injured persons of APMBC State parties; implementation of Oslo Action Plan, the matters on Making Every Effort Count: Towards a Successful 2025 and Fostering Cooperation for Rehabilitation as well as important matters on implementation of APMBC including elimination of anti-personal mines.

The Myanmar delegation led by the director-general U Aung Kyaw Moe discussed the following points:

· Regular coordination meetings have been held after work committees on mine risk were formed in Nay Pyi Taw, Kachin state, Kayah state, Kayin state, Shan state (North) and Rakhine state.

· Since 2017-2018 FY, persons injured due to anti-personal mines have been provided at the rate of 200,000 kyats per person. So far, 138.8 million kyats in total have been provided to 694 mine injury victims.

· Efforts on rights for persons with disabilities are under way in pursuant to UNCRPD.

It is reported that the delegates can know and observe about current development and perspectives on implementing Anti-Personal Mine Ban Convention and task procedures on provisions to mine injury persons, being under way by Convention State parties.
